Description
For auction is a wonderful piece of art glass made by The Steuben Glass Company of Corning, New York. The item is a called "Pin Tray" and it is done in Frederick Carder's most desirable Gold Aurene glass. This tray is a nice cabinet size as it measures 4 1/8" in diameter and stands 7/16" tall. This Pin tray depicts a squat round form with with a rolled side edge. The body rolls out and comes in and up ever so gently.
It is decorated in one of Frederick Carder's favorite types of glass known as Gold Aurene. The Gold Aurene is just outstanding as it is brilliant and highly reflective. You can see vivid hues of platinum blues with strong fuchsia tones inside the tray. The texture of the glass is silky smooth to the touch and feels much like the texture of Steuben's Verre de Soie glass which was known as "Glass of Silk".
This tray is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings.
The tray displays a counter sunk polished pontil. This is the finishing sign of a quality piece of hand blown art glass. The tray is signed on the bottom with the engraved " Steuben Aurene" signature mark along with the pattern or shape number "2997".
I cannot
emphasize
how rare this form really is. When you find this form it has a center ring mounted in the middle of the tray. This one does not have one nor did it ever have one. It would have been missing some
iridescence
or a mark would have been left behind in the center if it did. You can clearly see there was never a ring. This is the only known example that I have ever seen. In all my
research
I have never found another example and when you go to " The Steuben Club" website it shows this was made with a ring in the middle and called an "Ash Tray". I suspect someone ordered it this way or it was a mistake that got out of the factory.
This is known as shape number "2997" in the Steuben Club website of shapes. Those of you who collect Steuben Gold Aurene items will surely welcome this wonderful rare tray into your collection. I'm quite sure the buyer will be very pleased for many years with their purchase. I can date this based on the signature mark this salt was made circa 1917-1932.

I want to apologize for slowing down my shipping time. Ebay forced me into managed payments in July of this year 2020.
I used to get my money in 24 hours. I now get it in 3-4 business days. I was told it would be better for me and my fees would go down. This has been the opposite as my fees have actually increased and now it takes longer for me to receive the payments
. Because of this slowdown I will not ship until the payment has made it into my bank account. No store lets you out of the building with the
merchandise
unless it is paid for.
They are also n
ow charging all sellers a commission of 11.7% on sales tax. Pay Pal used to charge 2.9% payment processing fee but Ebay has changed this to 11.7%. This is an increase of 8.8% on the sales tax portion. They are now making a profit on the sales tax and treating it as a sale which in my eyes is wrong!! They did the same on the shipping charges several years ago. They use to not charge anything and now they are charging 11.7% commission on shipping as well. This has raised the cost to ship items to you, the buyer and this is factored into my shipping charges.
If you feel what Ebay is doing is wrong or you don't agree them please contact Ebay and voice your opinion. Maybe if enough of you do this, they will change their policy.
