Description
Welcome toAntiques & Moore!
This listing is for an attractive pair of Steuben crystal gazelle bookends, shape # 7399.
Although these lovely gazelle figures were originally sold as a single sculpture and was described as a decorative figurine or table decoration, they were often purchased as a pair and are often used as bookends. They were designed by Frederick Carder in collaboration with the well-known sculptor Sidney Waugh in 1934 during the Art Deco period. Although we did not find the signature, we guarantee this pair to be authentic as represented. The figures are pictured as Figure #130 on page 96 in the Frederick Carder and Steuben Glass reference book.
Measures 6 1/2" high, 7 1/2" long and 2 1/4" wide. Combined weight is 6 pounds.
These impressive bookends/sculptures are in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws other than a tiny/faint rough spot on the front corner of base that is only noticed upon close inspection. There are also some very faint scratches of base from normal wear.
