HEART & 18K GOLD KEY
James Houston design 1967
Consider this Steuben treasure, the very rare signed, new in correct original fitted red leather box
Heart & 18K Gold Key.
A heavy mouth blown heart shape is fitted with a filigreed 18K Gold escutcheon which accepts a detailed 18K Gold key. An early creation of the famed Steuben designer and author, the late James Houston (famous for many Steuben favorites such as
Arctic
Fisherman, Excalibur,
Arctic Ice Bear,
Eagle on Globe, Trumpeting Elephant,Trout and Fly, Otter etc.)
The ornate solid heavy 18K gold key can easily be worn as a pendant necklace (much nicer than most Tiffany key designs.) A rare find for the special birthday or anniversary
in gift ready condition.
At approx. 2 inches tall by 4 inches wide, this rare
Steuben
classic is crystal clear with
no chips, nicks or signs
of use to the glass, no damage to the 18K Gold and no display wear on the bottom
. The crystal heart is fully signed "steuben" in script and the Key is marked 18K and with the Steuben "S" stamp.

Steuben Glass was founded by Frederick Carder in 1903. Recognized as the world's foremost artisan glass house, Steuben glass was hand made by American craftsmen at the works in Corning NY. Steuben glass was frequently the United States’ gift of State to foreign dignitaries. Steuben marketed no “seconds”. Items that did not meet their exacting production standards were destroyed by being smashed in a bin. Steuben, a recognized luxury brand and the ultimate in art glass.
