** Why we call it DongXiao?
Ans: "Dong" means Hole, and "Xiao" is Flute in Chinese. So DongXiao is liberally derived
from the Chinese pronunciation.
This DongXiao was made of Matake bamboo which were grown in the high mountain region
of Taiwan.
And U-shape mouth piece is the most popular mouthpiece type people got used to.
This bamboo flute is a chromatic instrument which means it plays all the scale notes
in
its playable octaves. (i.e. all the sharp (#) or flat (b) notes were playable.
