    Pour le Merite most coveted award from Prussian Military since 1740 inception by Frederick the Great;
    many awarded throughout 1800s and finally in the Great War (WW1) till 1918.
    Many notable German Military personalities wore their "Blue Max," (as it was affectionaltely called)
    during later careers as senior commanders, such as Field Marshalls Erwin Rommel and Albert Kesselring,
    just to name a few.
    Several different designs of the Medal were made through its history, and different jewlers produced them,
    even copying each others versions.
    This offering features a "baroque-style" loop originally done by Wagner, lower to the "vee" top, with a smooth
    detail and plenty of room for the medal on the attachment ring to swing as needed.
    (Most photos I have seen of awardees are wearing the "baroque" version)
