Dogon Satimbe Mask 37.5" w Custom Stand - Mali - African Art
This mask was created in the style of a Satimbe mask from the Dogon people of Mali. Satimbe masks are meant to represent Yayemme, the first woman to discover the mystical use of masks, and also Yasigi, a female character from Dogon creation myths who served beer at the first Dogon sigi celebration. The mask measures 37.5 inches tall, 47 inches including the custom stand, and weighs 6 pounds, 10 pounds including stand. The right ear has been previously repaired and there is some cracking, scuffing and general wear and tear throughout – please inspect photos.

Due to the nature of our products being hand crafted in Africa, pieces may have possible previous repairs, scuffing, minor cracking and imperfections. Please inspect photos carefully or inquire for more detail.
