eautifully carved expressive African wooden mask of the Nigerian IGBO tribe. This type of mask is called Okoroshi and is from the Owerri region in Nigeria.
This female mask has a beautiful white patina and is decorated with line figurations in the face and has an ancestor head on top. It is decorated with white and brown kaolin.
The Igbo use thousands of masks, which incarnate unspecified spirits of the dead, forming a vast community of souls.
This mask has a human face with ponited eyes, a open mouth with large teeth abd an ancestor on top. Very nice white and brown patina .
Good condition, with some wear and tear and possible traces of use. Take a good look at the pictures.
