    Description

    1.8 Japanese Shakuhachi Kinko bamboo flute. Unread HANKO (maker’s mark)
    This Shakuhachi has many traditional details and is lightweight and easy to play. It has the plaster build up inside the bore (jiari) with red urushi lacquer inside. It has the makers stamp, an old style rattan binding at the joint, and a distinctive curve at the root end. The root end is shaved, a style that was popular until the mid-20th century. Blowing edge utaguchi is bone (or buffalo horn) and is Kinko style. The light colored bamboo has attractive dark mottling texture at the bell end. Hole number four (tsu note) is cut at a distinctive angle, and the the flute Has excellent intonation. Notes are well balanced through both octaves and the flute has a clear sweet sound.
    Weight is 380g. The maker is unknown, since the stamp is not identified yet. D tuning
    It is recommended to store Shakuhachi bamboo flutes in a moist environment. Please search YouTube for “ shakuhachi care”. Keep in mind that Japan has a moist climate.
